Rachi Sharma, who was last seen playing a key role in the previous generation track of Kumkum Bhagya, recently addressed the buzz around the sharp decline in the show's ratings post her exit. In an exclusive chat with India Forums, the actress reflected on her journey, the show's current phase, and how she views the discussion around her departure from the series.

Over the years, Kumkum Bhagya has remained one of the longest-running and most-watched daily soaps on Indian television. However, after the recent generational leap and the exit of Rachi Sharma and Abrar Qazi, viewers noticed a significant dip in the show's TRPs. Reports have even suggested that the ratings have fallen to a record low since the show’s inception.

When asked to respond to the audience’s reaction and the fall in ratings, Rachi shared, “Whatever the wrap-up of our generation was, I think that was their personal decision, and we took it very positively. And yeah, I mean, I also read the news that TRP has gone down a lot.”

She acknowledged that generational shifts in daily soaps often take time to settle with audiences. “Whenever there’s a leap, the audience takes a little time to accept it. And there was no link to the previous generation. With me and Abrar, there were still Mugdha and Krishna, so people were there. But I think the link ended suddenly and the audience is not able to accept it. So that was the reason.”

Despite the changes and the drop in viewership, Rachi believes in the efforts being made by the current team. “I think now they are just going with a good story. So I’m really hoping that TRP increases.”

With the television landscape rapidly evolving and audiences responding differently to narrative shifts, Kumkum Bhagya finds itself in a transitional phase. Whether the show can bounce back from this drop remains to be seen, but Rachi’s honest and measured perspective sheds light on the internal emotions of the cast when such major changes take place.
