During the inheritance dispute concerning Sunjay Kapur, Priya Sachdev Kapur's lawyer, Rajiv Nayar, directed criticism towards Karisma Kapoor. Nayar, representing Priya Sachdev Kapur, informed the court that Karisma Kapoor had been "nowhere to be seen for the last 15 years" since her separation from Kapur. He further emphasized the circumstances of Kapur's death, noting that he "died while playing polo," in an attempt to garner sympathy.
The court established a timeline for the legal proceedings, mandating the filing of written statements within two weeks, with a rejoinder to follow within one week. Alongside the summons, a notice was issued regarding the request for interim relief. Additionally, the court ordered Priya Sachdev Kapur to provide a comprehensive inventory of all her assets, both movable and immovable.
A legal dispute has arisen concerning the inheritance of the late businessman Sunjay Kapur's substantial estate, valued at an estimated 30,000 crore. The central figures in this battle are the two children of Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor, who have petitioned the Delhi High Court seeking their rightful share of their father's assets.
The siblings have levied serious accusations against their stepmother, Priya Kapur, Sunjay Kapur's third wife, alleging that she fabricated his will in an attempt to gain complete control of the estate. Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur were married for a period of 13 years, from 2003 to 2016, and together they have a son and a daughter.
The children, represented by their mother, presented their case to the court, asserting that they had been unjustly excluded from the inheritance by Priya Sachdev Kapur. This claim followed the unexpected passing of Sunjay Kapur in the United Kingdom this past June. The lawsuit identifies Priya Kapur, her minor son, his mother Rani Kapur, and Shradha Suri Marwah, the alleged executor of the will, as the defendants in the case.
The central point of contention revolves around a will dated March 21, 2025, which purportedly designates Priya Sachdev Kapur as the sole beneficiary of Sunjay Kapur's entire personal estate. The petition also alleges that Priya Sachdev Kapur collaborated with two associates, Dinesh Agarwal and Nitin Sharma, to conceal the will for over seven weeks before presenting it during a family meeting held on July 30, 2025.
