Priya Ahuja: There is an urge to get back on screens; want to do something worth leaving my child home for

Actress Priya Ahuja Rajda, who rose to fame post her stint in the show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been grabbing attention for her social media posts, among other things. Known as Rita reporter from TMKOC, she never quit the TV industry when on her maternity break, but has only been looking to to do bigger and better things next, and not something that doesn't feed her creative mind.

India Forums got in touch with her for a quick interview, where she spoke to us about getting back on the screens, if she has inhibitions about her comeback, and more.

It has been 3 years since you have been away, don't you feel the urge to get back on screen again?

Yes, there is a very strong urge to get back on the screens again but the only thing is that I want to do something worth leaving my child home for such long hours and also, because I have not worked for almost three years, I want to do something extremely important in the show I'll do and I don't want to do something like a blink and miss kind of thing or something people will not enjoy. And the most important thing is that I want to enjoy working again and want to do something that gives me heartfelt pleasure.

Do you have any particular inhibitions about making your comeback?

No, I just want to do something nice and impactful and I want to do a worthwhile comeback that will satisfy me and the audience also should enjoy seeing me on screen.

People talk about the kind of roles they want to do, what are the kind of roles you don't want to do on screen?

I don't think there is anything as such but I feel I get a little uncomfortable with seductive kind of roles because I'm more of a tomboy kind of a person and very loud. I don't think I fit well in mythological shows because I'm quite loud and in mythological shows, people talks very softly and nicely I think so for this kind of roles I feel have to put a lot of efforts.

Did you ever try talking to the makers as your character space in the show started declining post-2010?

No. They have their reasons and post covid ,things have changed a lot and very honestly, I don't even tell Malav to talk to them. I must have barely told him to see if he can do something or like that but genuinely, I'm not that kind of a person, I truly believe when something has to happen, it happens.

Do you have any plans of participating in reality shows?

My life is not controversial at all and I live a very simple life. I don't have too many industry friends as well, so I would love to participate in a reality show but I don't think so how will l fit into their criteria to be a contestant in the show.
