Born Rodolfo Franklin, he left his mark as a producer and DJ, cooking up beats for tunes like Junior M.A.F.I.A.'s “Player’s Anthem” and collaborating with stars like Mariah Carey, Jay-Z, and 50 Cent. Kent, known for his sway in East Coast hip-hop, wasn't just about spinning tracks; he guided up-and-coming talent and curated sounds that defined a whole era.

Kent’s family wrote on Instagram, “It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of the beloved Rodolfo A Franklin, known to the world as DJ Clark Kent. Clark quietly and valiantly fought a three-year battle with Colon Cancer, while continuing to share his gifts with the world. The family is grateful for everyone’s love, support and prayers during this time and ask for privacy as they process this immense loss.”

Yo, DJ Clark Kent's journey kicked off in 1989 with his remix of Troop's Spread Your Wings. He made waves with his work on Junior M.A.F.I.A.'s album Conspiracy in 1995, dropping hits like I Need You Tonight and Player's Anthem, which launched Lil' Kim. His influence stretched to Jay-Z's classic 1996 debut Reasonable Doubt, where Kent produced tracks like Brooklyn's Finest, Coming of Age, and Cashmere Thoughts.

Apart from music, Kent was known for his crazy sneaker collection, rocking around 3,500 pairs and teaming up with Nike, Adidas, and New Balance. His love for kicks shone through his final Insta post on September 6, flexing a range of sneakers that highlighted their importance in his legacy.
