Poonam Pandey pulled a fake death stunt back in February. She dropped the news of her 'death' on her Insta, but later she came clean, saying it was all to spread awareness about cervical cancer. This move caused a massive stir, and people went all out trolling her for messing with their emotions. Now, she's speaking up about the aftermath of the whole stunt.
“I did it for a cause. Logon ko abhi tak akal nahi aayi hai. Aur unko yeh bhi samajh nahi aa raha ki aaj ki tareekh main, gaon khede main jo aurte hain na, unko cervical cancer ke baare main pata chal gaya hai. Toh my work is done but it was terrible for me. It was a disaster for me. I was like yaar koi toh samjho, but I don’t know how I have passed that phase,” Poonam told Instant Bollywood.
Poonam's fake death gig really had everyone scratching their heads! People were like, "Come on, she doesn't look sick," and questioning how cervical cancer could lead to a sudden demise. And guess what? Celebs like Kangana Ranaut and Anupam Kher jumped on their social media handles to pay their respects to Poonam.
The day after her fake death stunt, the Lock Upp star dropped a video setting the record straight - she's very much alive! Poonam explained in the video that the whole death hoax was to shine a light on cervical cancer.
“I am alive. I did not die because of cervical cancer. Unfortunately, I cannot say that about those hundreds and thousands of women who have lost their lives because of cervical cancer. It is not because they couldn’t do anything about it but because they had no idea what to do about it. I am here to tell you that, unlike other cancers, cervical cancer is preventable. All you have to do is, you have to get your tests done and you have to get HPV vaccine,” she had said.
After all that, Poonam Pandey got slammed with tons of trolling for messing with people's feelings just for a publicity stunt.
