'The Kashmir Files,' directed by Vivek Agnihotri, received widespread acclaim and was a huge box office success. At the end of its theatrical run, the film grossed close to Rs 246 crore.
Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, and Pallavi Joshi starred in the film, which told the narrative of the Kashmiri Pandits' exodus in the 1990s.
Recently, veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah lashed back at the film. In an interview with a news portal, the actor stated that ‘The Kashmir Files’ was an almost fictionalized version of the suffering of Kashmiri Hindus.
The actor also shared his thoughts on genocide and stated that when you talk about genocide, ‘you get a slap on the wrist’ and that there are double standards. Reacting to the same, director Vivek Agnihotri tweeted,
“I agree with this. You are indeed abused and penalized for talking about Kashmiri Hindu Genocide in your own country.”
On Twitter, the actor received a mixed response. Many people have questioned his stance on other pressing topics.

He hasn't said what it's about, but it is said that the film is certainly the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Vivek seeks to bring to light the long-suppressed incidents of Sikh community slaughter following Mrs. Gandhi's killing.
