Veteran actor Nana Patekar, who turned 65 on Friday, will be seen in actor-director Mahesh Manjrekar's Marathi film "Natsamrat". He says he'd love to work in its Hindi remake.

"I would definitely want to remake 'Natsamrat' in Hindi. But it is difficult to translate a Marathi play into Hindi," Nana said here.

"Natsamrat" is based on V.V. Shirwadkar aka Kusumagraj's legendary Marathi play of the same name. Its premiere was held here on Thursday.

Nana, who plays Ganpat Ramchandra Belwalkar or Natsamrat, said: "Watching a play is a Marathi culture, which lacks in the Hindi market. It is difficult to do a Hindi play like this because there is no certain (theatre) industry in Hindi. I want to do a remake, but I'm still not sure how to do it."

The actor says he always wanted to play the character, and so he agreed to it "immediately" when Manjrekar offered it.

"Natsamrat" is about a veteran theatre actor who has been the best of his lot, acting in plays based on William Shakespeare's works. But gradually, Natsamrat becomes homeless and weary.

Besides Nana, the film features Medha Manjrekar, Vikram Gokhale, Mrunmayee Deshpande, Ajit Parab, Neha Pendse and Sunil Barve.
