Veteran Mithun Chakraborty's son Namashi Chakraborty is all set to be the latest star son to mark his debut in Bollywood with the film, Bad Boy. And when you have such a legendary father, there is indeed a tall order to live up to. And while senior Chakraborty has some of the most iconic films to his credit, there have been decisions that have been slammed or gotten famous for the wrong reasons.
In his career of four-and-a-half decades, the one film that has been a constant talking point even today is the film, Gunda. The action film, written by Bashir Babbar and directed by Kanti Shah, also featured Mukesh Rishi and Shakti Kapoor in key roles. Despite its controversial storyline the film became a cult hit for its cringe dialogues and carefree nature of the protagonists, especially the raw nature of Mithun’s character. Lines like 'mera naam hai bulla, rakht hu khula', 'mera naam hai ibu hatela, maa meri chudail ki beti, baap mera shaitaan ka chela, khayega kela?' continue to be viral and a conversation among everyone as they have fun laughing on the dialogues.
And recently, during an interaction, Namashi was asked about one film that he wishes his father hadn’t done and the actor promptly answered that it would be Gunda which became so infamous. He also mentioned how the film became so notorious for its content and according to him, people today feel that his father has only been capable of doing such films because of Gunda.
Namashi also admitted that he loves the film for its hilarious storyline but given his father's stature, he felt he could have avoided the film. Interestingly, Mukesh Rishi, who played Bulla in the film had also admitted once that he was ashamed of his dialogues in the film. During an interview the actor said that Bulla’s dialogues made him feel ashamed many times since there was a mixed feeling of shame and guilt. Even after the film’s success at the box office he used to question himself why he did Gunda.
