The end of January is nearing and bringing the much awaited release of Khamoshiyan. Produced by Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt along with Vishesh Films, the movie is an erotic love story featuring a writer who finds a girl with a mysterious past amongst the beautiful backdrop of Kashmir. Directed by Karan Darra, this film will mark the debut of the talented Gurmeet Choudhary, one of television's heartthrobs. Another person making their debut is the lead heroine of the film, Sapna Pabbi. Along with Ali Fazal, Pabbi and Chaudhary form a complicated love triangle in the movie.

Khamoshiyan comprises of 11 tracks and the music is composed by four different composers. We, at BollyCurry, gave the album a listen and are delighted to bring to you the Music Review of Khamoshiyan. Go ahead and read our review!

The album opens with "Tu Har Lamha", a soft romantic song penned by Sayeed Quadri and composed by Bobby Imran. Sung by Arijit Singh, the song seems quite similar to all the songs we have heard till now from Vishesh Films and does not garner much appreciation from us. The lyrics stand out though!

The second track from this movie is the true gem amongst all. "Khamoshiyan", the title track is written by Rashmi Singh, sung by Arijit Singh and composed by Jeet Gannguli. The song's lyrics and music mesh up beautifully and Singh's voice makes us want to hear the song again and again. Its haunting melody and Singh's voice remains playing in our head long after the song has ended. The song has already made its way into many of our playlists and has even started ruling the charts!

Next in line in the album is "Baatein Yeh Kabhi Na", sung by Arijit Singh, composed by Jeet Gannguli and written by Sayeed Quadri. The song again sees Singh crooning to Gannguli's music, but the result does not match up to "Khamoshiyan" and is rather underwhelming. But it is still a beautiful song and Quadri continues to deliver excellent lyrics. So, we'd say it deserves arleast one listen.

The fourth song from the album is "Kya Khoya", written by Rashmi Singh and composed and sung by Naved Jafar. As far as BollyCurry is concerned, this song is the weakest out of the lot even after comparing to the remixes in the album! The song does not make an impression even after multiple listenings. While the music and lyrics might even be listenable, the singer does not endear himself much to us. You can give this one a skip!

Next up in this album is the beautiful "Bheegh Loon", a sensuous romantic song sung by Prakriti Kakkar. Kakkar seems to know very well when to make her voice sound sexy and when to give it a sweet lilt, making this song at par with "Khamoshiyan" in terms of singing. Abhendra Kumar Upadhyay has penned the lyrics while Ankit Tiwari has composed its music. Do give this song a chance, you might be surprised!

Bringing the count to half dozen is "Subhan Allah", a softer version of "Tu Har Lamha". Composed by Anupam Amod and Imran Ali and penned by Sayeed Quadri, this is different from "Tu Har Lamha" due to the softer music and better lyrics. With only guitar as base, the composers take this song to a different level. This song is sung by Bobby-Imran and a great addition to your song collection if you are a lover of songs with simple music.

"Bheegh Loon" revisits us, but with male vocals this time. Sung and composed by Ankit Tiwari and penned by Abhendra Kumar Upadhyay, the song features different lyrics than the female version. While the female version turns to be sensuous without any effort from Kakkar, Tiwari's attempt at sounding romantic seems to come up naught and the song fails to engage you as the female version did. Add this to your playlist only if you are an Ankit Tiwari fan!

Another attempt at creating a different version is made, but this time with "Baatein Yeh Kabhi Na". Palak Muchhal tries to sing the same song and manages to bring a calming effect on to the listener. Penned by Sayeed Quadri and composed by Jeet Gannguli, this will be wonderful addition to your playlist of soothing melodies!

Third from last is the "Khamoshiyan" Unplugged version. Unlike most unplugged versions which are softer versions of the original song with only guitar for background, this song turns out to be just a sad version of the original song with different lyrics. It is disappointing for those who actually look forward to a true unplugged version of the song that captured their heart so much. This song is sung by Arijit Singh, composed by Jeet Gannguli and lyricist is Rashmi Singh.

The final two songs in this album are remixes. The first is the remix of "Tu Har Lamha". DJ Angel tries to make the sound different from the original and succeeds to some point. However, his remix falls short of being appealing unless you are dancing in a club or some party and the song is remixed with some other song! Vocals are by Arijit Singh, lyrics by Sayeed Quadri and music is of Bobby-Imran.

Last but not the least is the "Bheegh Loon" remix female version. This is also DJ Angels' work and just as the other remix, this one is also not that appealing. However, singer Palak Muchhal's voice manages to grab our attention and make the song bearable. The lyricist is Abhendra Kumar Upadhyay and the composer is Ankit Tiwari.

After going through the album, we believe that the songs in this album are a mixed bag with one or two songs being excellent, one or two being average and most of them being in between. All in all, it is quite disappointing when you take into account that it is produced under the banner of Vishesh Films, a production house well known for delivering trendsetting songs. Considering this, we give this album 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Khamoshiyan will be in theatres near you on 30th January and if you have yet to give this album a chance, do check it out and listen to it at least once as we, at BollyCurry, believe you won't regret it.
