ABCD 2 is the much awaited sequel to India's first dance film ABCD: Any Body Can Dance (2013) and is slated for a mid - June release. With ace choreographer Remo D'Souza donning the director's cap yet again, ABCD 2 stars the young heart throbs Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor. Many artistes from the prequel are a part of this project too, including the likes of Lauren Gottlieb, Salman Yusuff Khan and Dharmesh Yelande.
The soundtrack of ABCD 2 comprises
of ten songs composed by the duo Sachin-Jigar and written by Mayur
Puri, Rimi Nique, Priya Saraiya, D Soldierz and Badshah. BollyCurry has
undertaken the task of reviewing the soundtrack. Read on to find out
more about our thoughts on it.
The first track from the
album, written by Mayur Puri, is

"Chunar" which has meaningful lyrics that convey emotional longing. Arijit Singh once again meets the mark with his soul-stirring vocals adding to the impact of the simple yet poignant wordings. It is a surprise opening track and not a dance number as expected.Next number from the album is "Sun Saathiya"
with lyrics by Priya Saraiya, who has also sung the track along with
Divya Kumar. The number oozes romance from every musical note and the
husky rendition by Saraiya turns this into one of the memorable tracks
from the film.
The one track that all fans of the ABCD franchise absolutely
love is "Bezubaan". The third song from the album is "Bezubaan Phir
Se"- a somewhat pacier and a dub step flavor integrated version of the
original. Anushka Manchanda and Madhav Krishna's melodious voices
complement each other's while Vishal Dadlani's gritty rendition is a
hark back to his Parikrama days.
"Happy B'day" is
the quintessential party track with rap verses by D Soldierz mashed up
with Punjabi and Hindi lyrics by Mayur Puri. The talents who took to the
mic for this song include composers Sachin-Jigar, rapper D Soldierz and
hero Dhawan himself. With addictive beats and a catchy chorus, its a
great number to groove to on the dance floor!
The next
song is a breezy romantic number "If You Hold My Hand" crooned by
playback gem Benny Dayal. The English and Hindi wordings by Rimi Nique
and Badshah will definitely have the listeners recalling the pop songs
by the then popular boy bands of the Nineties.
"Hey
Ganaraya" is the track that follows and is a devotional song penned by
Mayur Puri. The rustic-voiced Divya Kumar is the perfect choice for this
number and his emotive performance is sure to touch a chord with the
listeners.
The lone track from the album sung by Mika
Singh, "Happy Hour" has offbeat lyrics by D Soldierz. It starts off as a
painfully slow number and does pick up pace towards the end. However,
it is a forgettable number by all counts.
A welcome change
from the lagging tempo of the previous number comes in the form of the
peppy dance track "Naach Meri Jaan" with energetic vocals by Benny
Dayal, Shalmali Kholgade, Siddharth Basrur and Rimi Nique. A dash of
Latina flavor adds to the upbeat vibe of this track.
The
next song is "Tattoo" sung by Shefali Alvares with completely
Bollywood-esque lyrics by Mayur Puri; mash up of English and Hindi
wordings seems to be his forte. This number is an unexceptional song
that may remain the flavor of the hour for a short duration.
A
track replete with rapidly changing beats and high powered vocals
by Daler Mehndi, Tanishka Sanghvi, Badshah and Divya Kumar is the last
song of the album "Vande Mataram". The lyrics are again by Mayur Puri
and the number contains a reprise of the first track "Chunar" as well
adding to its emotional feel.
The ABCD 2 album showcases
the brilliance of composers Sachin-Jigar and they have succeeded in
presenting the listeners with songs fit for a dance movie. The romantic
number "Sun Saathiya" and the spirited "Bezubaan Phir Se" being the
standout tracks whilst the other songs are also quite good. Hence,
BollyCurry awards this album 3.5 out of 5 stars.
The
brilliantly choreographed songs featuring some never-before-seen dance
moves are already a rage on all the music channels and the catchy tunes
have RJs playing them on repeat . The tracks of ABCD 2 are bound to find
a place in the playlists of music and dance lovers alike. We, at
