A mother is the greatest gift a child can ever get. The warmth and love she gives is a pure blessing. Be it in real life or on the big screen, the relationship between a mother and child is beautiful. And in the month dedicated to mothers, BollyCurry brings to you some mother-children duos that touched our hearts; they made you cry, laugh and made you appreciate your mother and children even more.

First in our list we have the troubled relationship between the dyslexic child Ishaan played by Darsheel Safary and his mother Maya who was portrayed by Tisca Chopra. Ishaan is suffering from dyslexia and is misunderstood by everyone, including his family. Maya gave up her career to teach her children, but as hard as she tries she can't improve Ishaan's grades. Ishaan like any other child only wants love from his mother, but instead of getting that he is sent away from his loved ones. His relationship with his mother is a very sensitive one, where Maya obviously loves her son a lot but she can't reach him. Something that makes the relation between his mother and himself bitter.

Agneepath depicts the tale of an ideal mother Suhasini essayed by Zarina Wahib, who will go to any length for her son Vijay Deenanath Chauhan played by Hrithik Roshan. Be it sacrifices, prayers or if it means keeping him away from herself and his family. A mother who loves her son a lot, but can't tolerate her son going to the dark side, even if it is to take revenge from his father's murderers. The spent years apart, but the love that a mother has for her son and vice versa is still there in their hearts. And in the end as Vijay breathes his last in his mother's lap, she forgives all his sins and embraces him as he slowly dies in her arms. A bond so strong that it can survive years of gap and still be alive after death is truly praiseworthy.

Who can forget the filmy but loving mother of Om Prakash Makhija played out by Shah Rukh Khan. Kirron Kher played the role of a widowed Junior artist Bela Makhija who loves her son unconditionally. She inspires and encourages her son to do well and achieve something big in his life. Om loves the film actress Shanti Priya, played by the debutant Deepika Padukone and he dreams of becoming a superstar and marrying Shanti Priya. His mother Bela always supports his dreams and pushed him to fulfill them, even knowing that it's a bit impossible. Just before climax, Om Prakash dies while saving his lady love, and returns as Om Kapoor in his next life as the son of a famous producer. Even though years have passed, Bela never gave up hope that her son will one day return. A mother's faith wins, and he returns and it doesn't take her a second to recognize her son. An everlasting and beautiful relation of a mother and son.

Sridevi Kapoor portrayed the role of a homemaker Shashi who's independent, intelligent and loving. She has it all the only thing she lacks is the ability to speak English fluently. Something that becomes a barrier between her and her daughter Sapna played by Navika Kotia. She tries to speak as much as she can but when she can't get it right her children make of her and embarrass her. At various events Shashi tries to speak, but ends up embarrassing her children over and over again. She then gets an invite from her sister to visit her in USA to help out with the preparations for her nieces wedding. Shashi has an emotional breakdown on the last day just before leaving but that soon becomes fruitful as she enrolls in an English speaking course, so she won't be an embarrassment for her children and so she can reconnect with them. She finally learns to speak English fluently and at her nieces wedding she holds an emotional speech in English for her children, where she explains that when a family member has a weak point, the other family members should support her. A mother who goes through great lengths to bond with her children, and have a healthy relation with them. Word!

Paa is a unique tale of an ill child and his parents. Auro  played brilliant by Amitabh Bachchan has the rare disease Progeria, which means he grows faster physically than mentally. Auro has lived with his mother all his life, and the bond he shares with her is of a friend, who he can play with, talk to and love. Vidya Balan plays the role of Auro's single-mother, Vidya,  who loves him no matter what, and she dies a little every day to see her child suffer from this.  She loves him unconditionally, despite of the fact that Auro was made fun of. She sets an example as a mother, that it's your child regardless of a disease or a syndrome, and you should love him because a child is a blessing. The relationship is especially highlighted in the end where Auro dies and his last words are Maa and Paa

Dil Kya Kare
A
relationship of two mother's and one daughter. One on side Kavita depicted by Mahima Chaudhry, a doting wife, and a loving mother who loves her adopted daughter implicitly. They share a relation that's above anything, she takes care of everything, and in return her daughter loves her more than anything. The unique bond they share underlines the fact that love goes beyond blood relations. A mother-daughter duo who have nothing in common but love, but the bond they share is stronger than any other relation in the world. On the other side a mother who is so unfortunate that she couldn't even see her daughter's face after her delivery, but destiny brings her back to her. And it is proven that you are connected through blood.  As Neha played by Akshita Indalie Garud-Janos, gets an instant liking of her biological mother, Nandita pictured by Kajol Devgn. Even though they meet after years, they need just a second to connect and form a bond. Two relations, that are so different yet so beautiful in their own ways.

Here are just a few yet dynamic mother-child duos. A mothers love is incomparable and always pristine. Whereas, a child's role is not just to respect the mother but also love them without any conditions. BollyCurry brought to you some duos with some strong performances, and everlasting memories of some the best mother-children ever seen on-screen.

These might not be the most famous duos, but they are definitely the most unique ones. We'd also like to know your favorites
