Media-inspired negativity killing India: Priyadarshan

Media-inspired negativity is killing the country, filmmaker Priyadarshan said on Wednesday, in the wake of the row triggered by Bollywood star Aamir Khan's comments about intolerance.

Media-inspired negativity is killing the country, filmmaker Priyadarshan said on Wednesday, in the wake of the row triggered by Bollywood star Aamir Khan's comments about intolerance.

"Media is killing the country. They like only negative things. Look at our newspapers, they are all about political fights and such stuff," Priyadarshan told the media on the sidelines of an event at the 46th International Film Festival of India.

The national award winning director of films like "Virasat" and "Hera Pheri" also accused the media of blowing random incidents out of proportion.

He said the media was least interested in developmental aspects of news.

Aamir Khan during an interview on Monday had said his wife Kiran Rao asked him whether they should move out of India. The actor on Wednesday issued another statement, saying he and his wife were proud to be Indians.

"Neither I, nor my wife Kiran, have any intention of leaving the country. We never did, and nor would we like to in the future," he said.

It's true that media is generating lot of negativity, doing stuff like quoting out of context for sensationalism, but if Priyadarshan talking about the Aamir incident here then it not entirely media's fault in this case...
I read the entire IV and Aamir did say that, he was not quoted out of context or anything

Well said. People say that they see something in the newspapers & that upsets them. Then, they say something & that fills the newspapers. This upsets somebody else...and so the story goes! Actual events? No one knows.

Totally agree with Mr. Priyadarshan here. The media blows things out of proportion feeding their own judgements over a person forcing it into the minds of viewers. If I see a particular statement 24x7 on all the news channels, I am bound to think it's true.
First they give so much TRP to people who make hateful religion biased remarks by religious extremists from both sides. And when that results in an issue they would go on a spree asking celebrities about their view point.. And if they say a single sentence to feed their negative agenda, they would blow trumpets about it in all directions, forgetting what that person might have said or done his entire life.
And it saddens specially when people behave irrationally to all this.

Why blame only the media? The non stop bashing done by actors, entertainers, writers, far left elites and bleeding heart liberals is ruining this country's image... The hate they spew is damaging this county...
