Will Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao do a movie soon after the success of Laapataa Ladies? Here’s what she said

One of the unexpected sweet successes of Bollywood box office in 2024 was Laapataa Ladies. The movie made Rs 25 crores at the global box office taking everyone by surprise. It also went viral due to its characters. Kiran Rao made a return as a director after Dhobi Ghaat (2012) with this movie. Aamir Khan was the producer. They have often spoken about how they love to collaborate with one another. At a recent event, the media asked Kiran Rao if Aamir Khan and she would do one more film together. She said that they do not pre-plan such things, and it is a ‘film’ that matters. 

Kiran Rao said, “No, we will definitely work together in the future. I don’t know in what capacity because I enjoy working with him, you know, he was the producer on this. Aamir found the script. So I’m always keen to work with him again.” Despite their divorce, the two continue to be good friends. She said their equation surprised everyone including her parents. They live close by, and once a week the whole family gets together under one roof to have dinner. She said that his family cares for her like a daughter, so the bond is very much there despite the divorce. 

When she was asked if Aamir Khan would act or produce her upcoming film. Kiran Rao said she is still writing the story, and once it is completed, she would think about it. Laapataa Ladies was produced by Aamir Khan Productions and Jio Studios. 

Aamir Khan was on a long break after the failure of Laal Singh Chaddha. The superstar was deeply disappointed by the same. But the other two Khans, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan told him to make a comeback soon. His next Sitaare Zameen Par is going to come in December 2024. The movie is about Down’s Syndrome and how people get stigmatized because of the same. It also stars Genelia D’Souza. The director is RS Prasanna.
