We at India Forums got into a candid conversation with Manasi Joshi Roy who plays the female lead in Pal. She spoke at length about the film, what compelled them to come up with the idea and a lot more
1)Firstly, tell us what is the short film about?
The theme of Pal is, 'Aaj jaane ki zidd na karo’. We have created a bunch of love stories for the film. Me and Rohit will be acting in each one of them. Every story is different in its own way. Each story will involve a couple and portray different aspects of their lives. Pal is our endeavor to be creative amidst the lockdown. We have tried to make utilize our in-house talent and collaborate with other writers and creators. The main aim behind Pal is to tell people that it is possible to create good content while being confined within the four walls of our home.
2)What compelled you to shoot a series of love stories in Pal?
Both Rohit and I are creative people. Rohit had been working on a script and he completed it last month. Speaking about myself, I am working on a web show which I will be producing with a friend of mine. Then we suddenly realized that why not shoot something together sitting at home. People have been creating really good content at home these days and since we are actors we can certainly do that.

The film will be released next week most probably. We are yet to figure out the platform on which the film should be out. We can even release Pal this weekend itself.
4)What can the viewers expect in the future post your short film?
Like I said before, Pal is just the first part. Currently, we are in a position where no one knows what will happen. For now, we are trying to do the best we can at home. We do not know what will happen next when things will be normal, what will be the guidelines placed to shoot etc. We plan to work on more content in the future but let's see what happens next. All we can do is hope for the best.
5)The poster of the film has received a tremendous response from people. How do you think the film will be perceived by the audience?
Well, let’s say better than the poster (laughs). Also, let me tell you one thing. Everybody knows that we have acted in the film but it has been shot by our 17-year old daughter, Kiara. She is busy with her school and her online classes. We had to ask her and work according to her schedule! (laughs). Overall, you can say Pal has been a fun ride for all of us. Ritika is the writer of the film. I and her go a long way and know each other really well. We are hoping for a positive response. A good story can be told from anywhere, is what I believe in.
