Filmmaker Madhura Pandit Jasraj, wife of the renowned music maestro Pandit Jasraj, passed away early Wednesday in Mumbai at the age of 86, following age-related health issues.
Family spokesperson Pritam Sharma announced that the last rites will take place at the Oshiwara crematorium in Mumbai this evening.
Madhura, the daughter of legendary filmmaker V. Shantaram, married the renowned music maestro Pandit Jasraj in 1962. She is survived by her two children, music director Shaarang Dev Pandit and television personality Durga Jasraj.
In 2010, Madhura made history as the oldest debutant director of a feature film with her Marathi movie Aai Tujha Aashirwad, a feat that earned her recognition in the Limca Book of Records.
