Director Laxman Utekar, who is eagerly anticipating the release of his upcoming film "Zara Hatke Zara Bachke," recently shared his thoughts on casting actor Katrina Kaif in the movie. In a recent interview, Laxman explained why he did not consider Katrina for the role of a "middle-class joint family daughter-in-law" opposite her husband, actor Vicky Kaushal.
Quoting to Peeping Moon, Laxman Utekar said,
"Meri language Katrina ko samajh aayegi tabhi kar paunga (laughs). Aapko lagta hai Katrina kabhi small town ki heroine lagegi (I can do only if Katrina understands my language. Do you think Katrina will look like a small town heroine)? If we get a good script, I would love to work with Vicky and Katrina."
Laxman Utekar further expressed his views on Katrina Kaif, stating that he did not believe she could convincingly portray the role of a middle-class joint family daughter-in-law due to her aura and personality. However, he did not rule out the possibility of collaborating with her in the future if a suitable role arises.
Earlier, Laxman had mentioned that "Zara Hatke Zara Bachke" holds a special place in his heart and is a story that will resonate with audiences across the country. Promising wholesome entertainment, the film is poised to be a delightful watch for families.
In "Zara Hatke Zara Bachke," the lead actress opposite Vicky Kaushal will be Sara Ali Khan. The film, presented by Jio Studios and Dinesh Vijan, is scheduled to hit cinemas on June 2. Set in Indore, the romantic comedy revolves around the lives of Kapil (played by Vicky) and Somya (played by Sara), a middle-class married couple on the brink of divorce.
Meanwhile, Katrina Kaif was last seen in the horror comedy film "Phone Bhoot" alongside Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ishaan Khatter. Her upcoming projects include the highly-anticipated action-thriller film "Tiger 3" opposite Salman Khan, slated for a Diwali 2023 release. Additionally, she will be starring in director Sriram Raghavan's film "Merry Christmas" alongside Vijay Sethupathi.
