In a recent episode of Season 8 of the widely acclaimed talk show, Koffee with Karan, Bollywood stars Alia Bhatt and Kareena Kapoor Khan took center stage, unraveling intriguing revelations, amusing anecdotes, and candid reflections on controversies. One significant topic that stole the spotlight was Alia Bhatt addressing the online backlash faced by Ranbir Kapoor, her husband, following a seemingly innocuous comment she made about him.
The controversy originated from an October interview where Alia mentioned Ranbir advising her to 'wipe off' her lipstick, expressing a preference for her natural lip color. This innocently intended remark took an unexpected turn as Ranbir faced harsh criticism online, with netizens branding him as 'toxic' in the aftermath of Alia's statement.
During the Koffee with Karan episode, Alia shed light on the matter, explaining that Ranbir's absence from social media amplifies the impact of her comments about him. Alia revealed, "I have a very candid way of speaking, so even when I am talking about anything in my life, I like to imitate the person that I am talking about. I like to give anecdotes. I like to make it personal."
As Karan Johar delved into why Alia's comments led to an online 'explosion,' she expressed her surprise at the disproportionate attention. Alia pointed out that her team often alerts her to various matters, but the magnitude of the controversy hit her when she saw serious articles portraying Ranbir as a toxic person. She remarked, "And I am like 'Are we serious?' There are many issues in the world to talk about and give more attention towards than talking about something that I said in a completely different context."
Alia concluded her stance by asserting that Ranbir is entirely misunderstood, emphasizing that he is the opposite of the negative portrayal online. She revealed, "I think the only reason I felt bad or I feel bad is people misunderstand (him) because he's genuinely the opposite of all of that."
Season 8 of Koffee with Karan is now available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar, offering viewers an intimate glimpse into the lives of Bollywood's brightest stars.

So a husband telling his wife to wipe off her lipstick is toxic now? Feminism is a mental illness. I have never met a happy feminist because they don’t exist.
