In a candid revelation, Kiran Rao, filmmaker and former spouse of Bollywood star Aamir Khan, shared her journey of grappling with health issues while trying to conceive. Opening up about her struggles, Kiran disclosed, "The year Dhobi Ghat was made was the year Azad was born. For five years, I had a lot of miscarriages and personal health issues." She expressed her profound joy upon Azad's birth, emphasizing that motherhood was her primary focus thereafter.
Reflecting on her decision to step away from the film industry after Azad's arrival, Kiran expressed contentment with her choice. She said, “I enjoyed having Azad so much. Those were some of the best years of my life. I’ll never regret not having made a film in 10 years. I have no regrets because I enjoyed it thoroughly.”
Regarding Azad's future aspirations, Kiran revealed that he harbors no interest in following his father's footsteps into acting. Instead, Azad is drawn to art, music, and animation, showcasing a distinct inclination towards creativity.
The couple's journey to parenthood was marked by adversity, as Aamir Khan had previously shared news of a miscarriage in August 2009. Despite their struggles, Kiran and Aamir welcomed Azad into their lives in 2011 through IVF surrogacy.
