Kiara Advani is currently one of the busiest actors in Btown as she has not one, not two but three big banner films in her pipeline: Kareena Kapoor Khan-Akshay Kumar-Diljit Dosanj starrer Good Newwz, Shershaah alongside Sidharth Malhotra and horror-comedy Laxmmi Bomb co-starring Akshay again.
Her last outing with Shahid Kapoor, Kabir Singh, became one of the highest grosser releases and crossed Rs 300 crores on the box office. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, a remake of a South film, the film revolved around the life of a short-tempered surgeon, who turns violent, alcoholic and indulges in drugs after his lover gets married to another man. The film ignited a debate over the toxic masculinity showcased in the film, as claimed by the audience.
Recently while promoting her upcoming film Good Newwz, Kiara was asked to comment about the Kabir Singh controversy, wherein she revealed that she was uncomfortable with certain scenes in the film but feels that as an actor she has to believe in the character.
Talking to Hindustan Times, Kiara confessed, "Personally, I may not agree with certain scenes and they may make me uncomfortable. But those things were there to also make you uncomfortable as his character [Kabir Singh] was flawed. I didn't look at him like a hero.”
She also added that Kabir was a "flawed person with lots of issues.”
The actress further adds that in the end it is a fictional story and everyone is entitled to have an opinion. "It's good that it was debated upon and I leave it at that. I looked at it as a film and a fictional story, wherein nobody is telling you to be like any of them. I have moved on now," Kiara concluded.
Meanwhile, Kiara’s next titled Good Newwz is a comedy film about two couples tryst with in vitro fertilization, also starring Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh. Directed by Raj Mehta, the film is slated to hit the theatres on 27 December 2019.
