Karan Patel is a well-known actor recognized for his notable work in the Hindi entertainment industry. His talent and versatility have solidified his position as a prominent figure in the acting realm. He has portrayed diverse characters across television shows and has garnered a dedicated fan base. Patel starred as the main lead Raman Bhalla in 'Yeh Hai Mohabbatein' and played the role of Rishabh Bajaj in 'Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2'. He has also engraved his name while participating in reality, shows like Nach Baliye 3, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6 and Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 10.
After portraying Raman Bhalla in 'Yeh Hai Mohabbatein' Karan was on hiatus for two years. Karan shared about his conscious hiatus in an interview with ETimes. He said he had to break away from Raman Bhalla so that the audience could accept him as a new character. The decision was definitely scary, especially with the birth of his daughter Mehr. Mehr is turning three in October. However, he had to look at the bigger picture and decide what was best for his career ahead.
Karan is all set for his debut as the male lead on the big screen with Jhand Prakash. Karan shares that he considers Jhand Prakash as his debut in Hindi cinema, as he is portraying the central character in this film. In previous movies, he made small appearances. However, he doesn't regret those choices because those experiences taught him that every character makes a difference in the film. Karan further adds that it was also a phase when he needed work, and he would have seized every opportunity that came through his way. He didn't know then that he would bag a show like Yeh Hai Mohabbatein that would run for six years. He said that phase also made him realize that he shouldn't neglect any work by terming it big or small, and he still stands by that belief. He adds, "I would accept a role with less screen time if it's impactful".
Karan witnessed a rollercoaster ride on his journey, with high and low waves hitting his life. While talking about his ups and downs, Patel said that his biggest mistake was thinking he was a bigger actor than he actually was. That's when he started throwing his weight around. He adds that assuming one can get away with anything in the industry is a grave mistake because it is fiercely competitive, and so many people are vying for the position. Karan adds that "A misstep can cost you the race." He said he is fortunate to get a second chance to revive his career, and he made the most of the opportunity with Yeh Hai Mohabbatein. It was his moral responsibility to do complete justice to his character and the show, or he would have let everyone and himself down. Karan further adds that he couldn't have taken that second chance for granted. That phase taught him that realizing his mistakes and being disciplined and honest is crucial.
