Karan Johar tells Priyanka Chopra 'Apni aukaat main raho'; old clip makes netizens fume

Karan Johar has faced immense flak after the demise of Sushant Singh Rajput for being the flag-bearer of nepotism. The scrutiny on him has been indescribable. In fact, he admitted that it affected him a lot at one point of time. An old video of Karan Johar and Priyanka Chopra has come from Koffee With Karan season 5. It is from 2016-17. As we know, Priyanka Chopra had made her Hollywood debut then with Quantico. She was the first big Bollywood actress to bag an American TV series as a main lead. Her billboards were up in all main cities of the United States. 

Karan Johar tells Priyanka Chopra that he has not brought her on the show to praise her. He says that now she is back from Hollywood in Mumbai. He tells her “Apni aukaat main raho” saying that she is a Hindi film actress. The video has found its way on social media. Fans are fuming as they feel Karan Johar was being evidently jealous of what Priyanka Chopra achieved in the West much before his protégé, Alia Bhatt. The video has come on Reddit and other Instagram pages where people are slamming Karan Johar.

A netizen commented on Reddit, “I tried to think of it as just friendly banter when I first watched this episode however it was clear that it was not and even if it was then Karan did a terrible job at hiding his underlying jealousy and ill wishes.” 

Others said he would never belittle his favourites or star kid brigade in this manner. The comment read, “Such an ass, why did PC not shut him up. Jealousy was at its peak. He neither has the guts to ask the current lot about acting nor plastic surgeries.” 

A netizen even said it was this discrimination that made Kangana Ranaut so vitriolic about Bollywood. The comment said, “Karan Johar has been always sly and mean towards these outsiders and also to an extent trying convincing other makers to not cast these actors. But moment these actors get recognition he becomes very pally with them and connect with them professionally. Will he ever dare to say this to Alia “Apni Aukat Mein Raho.” 

It just seems like netizens have reacted a little too much yet again. Priyanka Chopra and Karan Johar have been good friends. She has come on his show multiple times even after this episode.
