'Kalki 2898 AD' witnesses a remarkable surge with it's India collection on day 4; inches close to 500 Crores

The science fiction film "Kalki 2898 AD" has created a massive buzz both in India and globally after its release. Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Prabhas, this dystopian epic directed by Nag Ashwin has captivated audiences with its intriguing storyline and stellar performances. Over the weekend, the film saw a remarkable surge in box office collections, making it one of the top performers of 2024.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, "Kalki 2898 AD" raked in an impressive Rs. 85 crore on Sunday (India Net Collection), benefiting from the weekend rush. This boosted its total India Net collection to Rs. 302.4 crore by the end of day 4. The film is also expected to cross the Rs. 500 crore mark worldwide, showcasing its global appeal.

The movie had a strong start, earning an estimated Rs. 95.3 crore on its opening day. On Saturday, it continued to perform well with Rs. 64.5 crore, followed by a 31.78% jump in collections on Sunday. The Telugu dubbed version of the film earned Rs. 36.8 crore, while the Hindi version brought in Rs. 39 crore. The Kannada, Malayalam, and Tamil versions contributed Rs. 0.7 crore, 3 crore, and Rs. 5.5 crore respectively.

'Kalki 2898 AD' performed consistently well over its first three days, amassing an estimated Rs. 217.4 crore in India Net collections. The film’s performance indicates a growing interest among audiences and hints at a strong run in the coming days.

The movie, directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by Vijayanthi Movies, is set in a post-apocalyptic world in the year 2898 AD. It follows a select group on a mission to save the unborn child of SUM-80, a lab subject. The star-studded cast includes Amitabh Bachchan as the immortal Ashwatthama, Kamal Haasan as the villain Yaskin, along with Prabhas and Deepika Padukone in pivotal roles. The film also features cameos by Vijay Deverakonda, Disha Patani, Mrunal Thakur and others. 

As the first instalment in the planned Kalki Cinematic Universe, 'Kalki 2898 AD' draws inspiration from Hindu mythology. Released in six languages – Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, and English – the film has captured the imagination of a diverse audience.

With its impressive box office performance and strong word-of-mouth, "Kalki 2898 AD" has the potential to continue its successful run, cementing its place as a major blockbuster of 2024.
