Imtiaz Ali shares insights on why he didn't collaborate with Kareena Kapoor again after 'Jab We Met'

Imtiaz Ali, the acclaimed filmmaker behind the beloved romance "Jab We Met," has shed light on his decision not to collaborate with Kareena Kapoor Khan again after their blockbuster hit. In a recent interview with News 18, Imtiaz Ali opened up about the possibility of a sequel to "Jab We Met" and his reluctance to pursue it.

Despite persistent inquiries from fans about a potential sequel, Imtiaz Ali dismissed the idea, emphasizing the importance of not undertaking projects solely for the sake of it. He expressed his desire to work with Kareena Kapoor Khan again but stressed the need for a compelling and distinct story to justify a reunion. 

Imtiaz Ali explained that as a filmmaker, there is a responsibility to uphold the quality and integrity of each project, rather than merely capitalizing on past successes. He cited the lukewarm reception to "Love Aaj Kal" sequel as an example, indicating that audience expectations can be challenging to meet. He quoted, "But unless there’s a really passionate reason to make a sequel, one shouldn’t.”

Regarding the prospect of revisiting "Jab We Met," Imtiaz Ali humorously questioned the need for a sequel when the original film continues to resonate with audiences. Currently, Imtiaz Ali is enjoying the success of his latest release, "Amar Singh Chamkila," starring Parineeti Chopra and Diljit Dosanjh. The film has garnered praise for its portrayal of the titular character and his tumultuous life. Imtiaz Ali's ability to delve into diverse narratives and evoke emotions on screen continues to captivate audiences.
