'If I make a good singer out of Varun,I would be happy'-Akriti Kakkar

Varun Badola and Akriti Kakkar make up a Jodi in Sahara One's Jjhoom India. Here is the Star Actor, Varun Badola and his mentor, Akriti Kakkar in conversation...

One versatile actor and one Versatile singer make the perfect Combo as Jjhoom India's perfect jodi. The actor who stole all hearts with his mind blowing performances as a dancer in last Season's Nach Baliye, Varun Badola now gears up to conquer the world of music, along with his mentor, Akriti Kakkar.

The Telly Buzz team bring you an exclusive chit chat with the jodi, starting first with the one and only: Varun Badola followed by Akriti...

What made you join Jjhoom?

It gives me good money, so why not try?

So how has the experience been so far?

It is good, my first round could have been better. I have not sang since 11 long years now, so I am enthusiastic to sing more now.

One comment about your partner?

Akriti is a fantastic talent. I am trying my best to give her good support. We are trying to choose songs that go well with me. This is exactly what all are doing.

Who according to you is the best singer here in actors?

Chavi Mithal , I thought sang very well. Apart from this, you just cannot point fingers at anyone, all are good in their own way.

What do you think about the voting pattern in Jjhoom?

Well, I don't know how the format will affect the eliminations. I just want to concentrate on my singing, and just hope that the best jodi wins. In reality shows, it is not always that the best singer wins. It is always the best entertainer or the crowd puller who walks away with the cake. All present here are good performers, so it is a tough league to be in. I really don't care about the voting pattern, just hope that the deserving boy or girl wins…

His Jodeedar happens to be the 'Cham Se Woh Aajaaye' singer, Akriti Kakkar. Akriti, a well known playback singer now, has also been the 1999 Sa Sa Re Ga Ma National Talent Hunt (Junior / Children's Special) Winner on Zee TV.

What made you decide to take part in this show?

First... I really liked the concept of the show. But above that, I felt thrilled. I am just a 21yr old and here, I am getting a chance to be someone's mentor. And then when I came to know about other mentors, I was more excited and felt proud to be there on the same platform as them, whom I grew up listening to.

How are you finding the show?

Everyone there feels it's more of a fun show or performance based show. But frankly speaking, I am taking it really seriously. I am taking the show completely as a musical show, and not some performance show. I am trying my best also to see that my partner follows the same.

What would you say about your jodi?

Varun cannot be termed as a very good student. (Laughing) Yes, he has a very good taste as far as music goes. At one time, he used to sing also but with lack of practice, now it is evident that lots of grains have formed in his voice. I know it cannot be brought back to perfection. And then he has a problem of looking down while singing, something he does when he says his dialogue. I know his fans love that style of his, but while singing on stage, you need to look at the audience and we are trying to work on that too.

And how are you feeling as a mentor?

Really thrilled! Never even in my dreams I thought I would find myself at such a position, a position of a Guru. And if I really get to make a good singer out of Varun, I would feel happier. That's why I am trying to leave no stone unturned, to see that Varun starts singing really well.
