Much beautiful, lovely and kind-hearted actor Pariva Pranati who is currently seen in Sony Pal's Hamari Sister Didi has been in the news for not only the character of Dr. Amrita that she has to essay in the show but also the kind of human and her canine love for dogs has kept her in the news for some time now.
To those uninitiated, Pariva has been an avid animal lover since her childhood and has been fond of dogs so much so that she has rescued two dogs and brought home one as a pet. Well, to know more about her love for her canines, we got in touch with the actress herself.
Says Pariva, "While I was a kid I remember a bird got injured in my house so I took care of the bird and also took care of its recovery. There was a squirrel who got stuck in my house once, so I took care of the squirrel too. There was this tendency for animal love any which way. I got a pom breed dog at home from my friends place and he stayed with us for fifteen years. When you interact with animals, you tend to fall in love with them."
Was it that your parents inculcated this animal love in you? "My mother was never a dog person or an animal person but she was like if anyone was in trouble or anyone is in pain or injured, she would take care of them, give them medicines and stuff. That thing was there but she never wanted a pet. It was only me, a kid, back then for whom they brought in a pet. But eventually my parents too fell madly in love with him. Our pet ended up becoming a family member, stayed with us for fifteen years. I remember when he died, everyone in the house took at least three years to get over the fact. My dog right now Frodo came into my life because of my previous dog. Puneet Sachdev (husband) gifted him to me to help me get over my first loss."
So you believe animals are more loyal than humans? "If you see, animals will never unnecessary trouble humans but humans will unnecessarily trouble animals. Like a tiger will not come and porch a human but humans will use his skin, his bones, everything for their use. Animals will hunt only when they are hungry."
We have understood that you have three dogs and one little kitten which you found on sets. "I have two labs and one Cocker Spaniel and retriever mix. Two of them are rescued basically- somebody had left them on roads and this kitten also was rescued thinking that I will get it adopted and I am still hoping that I will try and get her adopted because my love for her is increasing by each passing day. Every time someone comes to adopt her and I will be like wait a sec, I will get back to you in a day or two (laughs).
We have seen Hamari Sister Didi turning into a mini zoo... "(laughingly) When I come on the set, first thing in the morning I see is seven dogs following me till my make up room. I carry these Parle-G biscuits and Pedigree for them with me. There are monkeys on our set and this little kitten whom I have adopted and crows of course. So yes, you can call Sister Didi turning into a mini zoo. Later in life, I do plan to open a shelter for animals some time in life when I can mange it well. But yes, I want to do something on a bigger level."
So is Puneet all okay with you bringing home dogs and kitten? "Puneet has never had an option (laughs aloud). But yes Puneet has been extremely supportive in this case. I have three dogs in house, recently brought home a kitten and he knows I will bring home any animal who actually needs some help. He is okay with this because by now he is all used to this. He will probably look at me and think aaj kya layi hai apne saath. Eventually, he also ends up falling in love with them. I think he also has accepted that it is for a good cause."
Lastly any message to anyone? "Animal lovers do their bit but it is important for others to respect them and give them their due. I would just like to say that it is very easy to harm a form of life but it takes some efforts to go ahead and care for them. But yes, it is a good thing to take care of animals."
There is definitely a lot to learn from you Pariva!

I can understand where Pariva is coming from. You have to be a pet/animal lover in order to appreciate such sentiments. The loss of a pet is difficult & cruelty towards animals is beyond my understanding. Anyways, love her kind hearted nature :)

Wow. I didn't realise the theatres in J&K have been closed for so long. It's unfair on the people. Let them watch whatever they want to. Why mix politics with pure entertainment? I agree with VVC. I've seen Srinagar and the place is beautiful! Don't deprive the people of the opportunity to escape from the tense political atmosphere and just enjoy themselves for a while!
