It's been two decades since Hrithik Roshan and director Rakesh Roshan joined hands to create a cinematic masterpiece that defied conventions and captured the hearts of audiences across India. 'Koi Mil Gaya,' the iconic Sci-Fi film, has achieved cult status in Indian cinema, standing the test of time and remaining relevant even after 20 years since its release on August 8, 2003. To mark this momentous occasion and allow fans to relive the magic, PVR Inox is all set to re-release the film on August 4, across 30 cities.
Director Rakesh Roshan expressed his excitement about the re-release plans, sharing that the team at PVR Inox approached them to celebrate the film's 20th anniversary. He couldn't be happier with the decision to bring 'Koi Mil Gaya' back to the big screen, giving viewers, old and new, an opportunity to experience the enchanting story once again.
The hope is that families will make it a special outing, with parents introducing their children to the beloved character of Jaadoo, while cherishing their own nostalgic memories of the film from two decades ago.
Reflecting on the journey of 'Koi Mil Gaya,' Rakesh Roshan described it as a risk he took as a filmmaker. Creating a Sci-Fi film centered around an alien was unprecedented in Indian cinema at that time, but he believed in the power of storytelling and the appeal it could have for both children and their families.
His risk paid off handsomely, as the film received overwhelming love and appreciation from audiences. The filmmaker considers the audience's response to be the biggest reward, reinforcing his belief in the importance of experimenting with different genres and storylines. The film released in the year 2003 featured Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta, Rekha, and Johnny Lever in pivotal roles.
