Had to prove myself working with Dad, says Mahaakshay

Mahaakshay Chakraborty admits there was pressure on him to prove himself as an actor when he shared screen space with his father, veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty in the forthcoming film "Enemmy".

Mahaakshay Chakraborty(Mimoh Chakraborty) admits there was pressure on him to prove himself as an actor when he shared screen space with his father, veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty in the forthcoming film "Enemmy".

"There was no comfort level, only this expectation to prove myself whether I am capable enough to stand in the same frame with him," Mahaakshay told reporters Thursday here at a promotional event for the movie.

Directed by Ashu Trikha, "Enemmy" is a cop action drama, which features Mithun and actor Suneil Shetty in lead roles.

Mithun plays a CBI officer, while Mahaakshay will be seen as a young CID recruit in the movie, produced by Mithun's wife and veteran actor Yogita Bali.

Mahaakshay made his acting debut as Mimoh with the film "Jimmy" in 2008 and later he was seen in movies like "Haunted - 3D" and "Loot". But he could not get a strong foothold in the industry.

Mahaakshay dispelled the notion that there was any leniency towards him since "Enemmy" is a home production.

"Yes it was a home production, (but) there was no leniency towards me. Dad was a strict professional. He was a producer when he had to be, he was an actor when he had to be, he was my father when he had to be," said Mahaakshay.

Slated to release June 21, "Enemmy" also features Yuvika Chaudhary of "Om Shanti Om" fame, and Kay Kay Menon.
