Gadar 2 director plans to remake several of the original album's tracks for the sequel

Gadar: Ek Prem Katha is that evergreen movie that has stayed in the hearts of fans afresh, till today. The songs in Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (2001), starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, were one of the film's highlights. Popular songs from the film, which were released around the turn of 2000, included Udd Ja Kale Kawan and Main Nikla Gaddi Leke. 

After a 20-year wait, the sequel to the film has begun production in North India, picking up where the first left off. According to Bombay Times, Sunny and director Anil Sharma plan to remake several of the original album's tracks for the sequel. 

Sunny responded, 

"Yes, why not?" when asked about it. Gadar 2 could include Main Nikla Gaddi Leke and Udd Ja Kale Kawan.Because my character, Tara Singh, was driven by music, Gadar was a musical.”

After a 20-year wait, the sequel to the film has begun production in North India, picking up where the first left off. The sequel, which is being shot in Himachal Pradesh among other places, is said to pick up when the pair is reunited and return to India.

Director Anil Sharma said, 

“Woh toh wahi gaane bajayega na? Music was the heartbeat of the original and our idea is to ensure that the audience does not go home disappointed with the sequel. They should feel as close to this story as they felt with the original. We don’t ever wish to spoil the legacy of the original. Music will be an integral part of Tara Singh’s journey, this time, too.” 

The original, directed by Anil Sharma, also featured Amrish Puri as the antagonist and revolved around a couple separated by borders and politics between the newly-independent India and Pakistan.
