Fraud Alert: Sonal Parihar's near escape from a fraud!

The complex world of technology has surely made our lives easier but it has also given rise to a lot of fraud and crime.

The Telly industry too comes across a lot of frauds everyday and recently we also came across such a fraud going around in the industry, when actress Sonal Parihar brought it out to our notice.

So, what's the fraud all about?

Basically, some industry people are getting calls from an international number and they are using the reference of their friends or mentors. Recently, Sonal too got a whatsapp message from an ISD number saying that it's from her director from her previous show. Thankfully, Sonal crossed checked about it from her director and found out about the fraud. The screenshot of the chat conveys it all...

Sonal explained, "When I got the message from this number, I started doubting that why is sir introducing himself when he has my number and also made me wonder- why was he messaging me from an ISD number because I was already in touch with him through his local number. I wanted to cross check with him but then thought that it would be embarrassing to ask him about it like this. So I first decided to do my homework by tracing the number out on True caller and then I searched for it on  Google as well. When I googled about it, I found out that they have been doing this with a lot of people from the industry. They are basically identity stealers. If they would have called me further, they would have spoken to me for some time and later would have stolen all the identities from my phone and used them for some fraud. This particular number is focusing only on people related to this industry."  

"Being a responsible member of this industry, I feel its important to spread the word, rather than just keeping things to you because you are safe. The fraud would stop if the news will be spread. We should look for our safety and people should be made aware of such happenings in the industry. We need to use the Technology in a smarter way now. It's better to take out some time and cross check with your friends or close ones rather than getting trapped in any trouble. Sometimes we don't cross check because of embarrassment but it's better to be safe than sorry. Google is always there and you can get all the information online easily. So always keep a check on things when you are not sure about it," suggested Sonal.
