Friends and family of Shammi Kapoor, who sadly passed away on 14th August, 2011 at Breach Candy Hospital, gathered the next morning to pay their final respects to the veteran actor.

Shammi Kapoor, who died at the age of 79, was bought to the Ban Ganga cremation ground in Mumbai, where the last rites were performed by his son, Aditya Raj Kapoor. The late actor's brother, Shashi Kapoor, who is unwell himself, also attended the cremation.

Others in attendance where family Randhir and Rishi Kapoor and his grandnephew Ranbir. Amongst celebrities, Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Ashutosh Gowarikar, Prakash Jha, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Rani Mukherji, Priyanka Chopra, Madhuri Dixit, Ketan Desai, Satish Kaushik, Subhash Ghai, Jug Mundhra, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Yash Chopra, Nikhil Advani and Sudhir Mishra, Danny Denzongpa, Ranjeet, Fardeen Khan, Vinod Khanna, Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor, Tom Alter, Shatrughan Sinha, Tinu Anand and Kabir Bedi also visited the cremation ground.

The previous evening, just hours after the news that shocked the Indian Film Industry was announced, many Bollywood biggies gathered to mourn the late actor. Shah Rukh Khan paid homage in his Malabar Hill home where Ranbir Kapoor were present.

Others such as Randhir Kapoor, grandnieces Karisma and Kareena, Amitabh Bachchan with wife Jaya, director Subhash Ghai, Anupam Kher, Imran Khan with wife Avantika and Imtiaz Ali gathered at the Blue Heaven Society in Mumbai's Malabar Hill to pay their tribute.
