On January 25th, 2015, Soha Ali Khan and Kunal Khemu tied the knot in
an elegant marriage ceremony after a seven years live-in relationship.
The marriage and reception was attended by many of our favourite
celebrities so there was no possible way the Fashion Police could miss
throwing the spotlight on a chosen lucky few.
First up are the bride and groom themselves. For their wedding reception, Soha Ali Khan donned a gorgeous pink and gold lehenga by Sanjay Garg from his Winter Festive 2014 collection. She added a matching multi-strand necklace, earrings and a maang tikka. While the look was simple, it receives massive brownie points from us for its regal and elegant aura, just like the khandan she hails from. Kunal Khemu, meanwhile, chose to keep it even simpler with a blue kurta paired with a black Nehru jacket. We definitely approve of the pink pocket square to match his lady love. However, a sherwani, in gold perhaps to match the gold blouse of the newly wedded wife, would have suited him better we think. Rating: Soha Ali Khan 4.5/5, Kunal Khemu 3.5/5
The reception was attended by the Kapoor ladies inclusive of Kareena Kapoor Khan, Karishma Kapoor and Babita Kapoor. The sisters donned heavily detailed lehengas by Manish Malhotra while their mother chose to keep it simple in a pastel green salwar suit. We love the attention to detail in our dear Bebo's lehenga; the
mirror and embroidery work are exquisite. Unfortunately, her loud make
up takes away from the overall perspective. Karishma on the other hand,
wins in this department, her eye make up aptly grabs attention and her anarkali lehenga is stunning. Babita looked her ever-best in the simple yet elegant salwar suit. Rating: Kareena Kapoor Khan 4/5, Karisma Kapoor 5/5, Babita Kapoor 4.5/5
When it comes to style, Saif Ali Khan rarely goes wrong and here he is again to prove
the point at his sister's reception. While Kareena chose to keep her
look light, Saif Ali Khan chose to complement her by going dark.
Sporting a midnight blue kurta and white pajamas, he teamed off the look velvet Nehru jacket.
He added a matching pocket square that blended into the jacket. With
the charming smile to complete the outfit, dapper is the word indeed!
However, a lighter coloured pocket square would have given him the
missing .5, we thinks. On the other hand, mother Sharmila Tagore looked her regal self in a pink and gold sari,
which she combined with royal jewels. Tagore, just like her son, rarely
goes wrong and this look is perfect for her daughter's reception. Rating: Saif Ali Khan 4.5/5, Sharmila Tagore 5/5
Konkana Sen Sharma showed up at the marriage in a white and pink Raw Mango sari,
one which we've seen on an occasion before. However, this time she
accompanied the look with a white gold necklace and matching earrings
and a white potli (handbag). While the look as a whole was
well-done, we noticed that her hands were bare. A white gold bracelet or
a mixture of white and pink bangles would have definitely added to the
look. Rating: 3.5/5
Arshad
Warsi also turned up at the reception. We're not exactly sure why he
was carrying a brown bag (which seems like a gift but a bad accessory
nonetheless), but then we're also not sure what he was trying to prove
with his outfit. Out of all the celebs at the reception, Warsi's outfit
has left us the most confused. With a knee-length kurta, white bottoms, black Nehru jacket, horrendous yellow-shaded glasses and a slight stubble, Warsi looked like a politician in the making - oh dear. Maybe if he had chosen to add some colour, aside from the cringe worthy yellow shades, to match his vibrant personality, he would have looked less samaj seva party and more wedding seva party. Rating: 1/5
Karan Johar made up for Arshad Warsi by donning a black sherwani with gold detailed borders. He paired the sherwani with white pyjamis, black Jodhpurs and
salt-pepper hair. He looked handsome and every bit the party guest that
everyone would look once at and know that he's off to attend a wedding
of some sort. On a side note, it seems Johar is taking some style advice
from his own movies. Rating: 4/5
