Ek Chatur Naar, directed by Umesh Shukla, features Divya Khosla and Neil Nitin Mukesh in a dark comedy set in Lucknow. The film follows a seemingly naive yet sharp woman who uses wit and ambition to outsmart those around her. With elements of humour, suspense, and unexpected twists, the story aims to offer a fresh perspective on small-town life.

The film received mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike. Despite this, it managed to edge past other new releases in advance bookings, reportedly securing around ?5 crore in early traction. However, actress Divya Khosla took to Instagram to address misinformation regarding the film’s box office performance.

In her post, Divya wrote, “Dear all, it’s unfortunate that respectable media websites like Times of India, Mint, and many more pick up box office collection from an unreliable source — Sacnilk, which has no authenticity. I request all to take the official collection from our distributor PVR. Sacnilk does not take collection from our distributors and often puts what it feels. During Savi, they also reported wrong figures. Again for Ek Chatur Naar, they are putting extremely wrong collection which is unfair and corrupt. In this day and age, when many sites resort to cheap tactics and blackmail for reviews and collections, at least the mainstream media needs to be authentic.”

Meanwhile, Divya Khosla shared insights into her preparation for the role. She revealed that she “lived in a slum in Lucknow” to understand the lives of the people her character represents. Sharing pictures on Instagram, she appeared in simple attire, with no makeup, her hair tied in a braid, and a black thread around her neck.

She wrote, “I lived in a slum in Lucknow to understand the life of slum dwellers for my role in #EkChaturNaar. It's been a one-of-a-kind experience to witness the other side of living and bring it to life with this transformation. Can’t wait to take you all on this rollercoaster of a quirky comedy! On 12th September, hosiyari starts! #ChaturGiri #DivyaKhosla.”

Produced by Umesh Shukla’s banner, the film attempts to combine dark humour with relatable small-town storytelling, while its lead actress’ immersive preparation has added an element of authenticity that audiences are noticing.
