Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's mentor Prahlad Kakkar says split with Salman Khan made her lose trust in the industry

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Salman Khan’s love story is one Bollywood saga that never seems to go old. The two had met on the sets of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam in 1997-98 and sparks flew. Quickly, they fell in love and Salman Khan reportedly became very possessive about his lady love. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s mentor and long-time friend Prahlad Kakkar told Vickey Lalwani that the aftermath of her separation from Salman Khan caused immense pain to the actress. While she was relieved that the affair ended, what hurt her was how the industry treated her.

Prahlad Kakkar told Vickey Lalwani that industry’s changed attitude was the ‘greatest hurt’ Aishwarya Rai Bachchan faced as a professional. He said her family and she were relieved when Salman Khan broke up with her. Kakkar said it was impossible for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to be with someone who as obsessive as Salman Khan at that period of time. Talking about the infamous incident at her building, he said he heard it from the people in the foyer. Neighbours had complained that Salman Khan banged at her door at midnight causing them disturbance. Prahlad Kakkar revealed that while Aishwarya Rai Bachchan did not talk about it, neighbours and others narrated what happened.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan felt betrayed by the industry

The adman told Vickey Lalwani that the industry sided with Salman Khan. He said, “The truth was on her side. Aishwarya was very committed to the industry. When she lost films, she felt betrayed by Bollywood. She lost trust in the industry.” He suggested that this was why she did lesser films post 2002. Prahlad Kakkar said people might have told her directly that her split with Salman Khan was why she could not be cast in a film. “Of course, it could have happened. She was really hurt and felt betrayed by people,” he added.

Prahlad Kakkar said that she has not changed a bit. She greets him as warmly whenever they meet up in her building. Kakkar said Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has conducted herself with great dignity. He said this trait of hers made journalists angry.
