Next in our series of Workaholics of the Month, we at BollyCurry are proud to feature one of the most popular and acclaimed actresses in the industry - Deepika Padukone. Having worn numerous hats in her short life from being a badminton player to a model to an actress and a social activist, this young lass has surely stayed busy.
Despite facing a lull in her career after she debuted with Shah Rukh Khan in Farah Khan's Om Shanti Omi (2009), the year 2012 was a major turning pointin the beautiful actress' career. In that very year, she starred in the critically and commercially acclaimed Cocktail, where her performance was lauded by one and sundry. She followed it up in the year 2013 with a slew of back-to-back hits, including Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani opposite Ranbir Kapoor, and Goliyon Ki Raasleela - Ram Leela opposite alleged beau Ranveer Singh. The films won her immense critical and commercial acclaim, and Padukone rose to the ranks of A-lister actresses in Bollywood.
Following this with films such as Happy New Year (2014) and Piku (2015), accompanied with her various brand endorsements and promotional activities for her releases, it would come as no surprise to many that Padukone barely had any time to herself. Reports suggest that she would work for 30 hours without a break, something that eventually took a toll on the talented actress' health. During the shooting of one of her films, she reportedly fainted, and had to be rushed to the hospital. Despite being advised to relax and take things easy, she went about her daily schedule and continued to shoot and appear in promotional events for her films at the same pace as usual.
We like to think that she's learnt the follies of her overly hectic schedule and is attempting to balance work with play. Just last week, she made it a point to take a short vacation from working on Bajirao Mastani to celebrate beau Ranveer Singh's birthday in London.
Clearly, it is Padukone's talent and her immense hard-work, coupled with her workaholic nature, that has brought her to where she is at this point. As we wait for her next releases to grace our screens, Tamasha and Bajirao Mastani, the rest of us can look up to her dedication for her work, and take a leaf out of her book!
