This weekend, R-rated movies are minting moolah at the box office. Both Deadpool And Wolverine and Dhanush’s Raayan are doing very well. Deadpool3 got an opening of Rs 21 crores at the box office. Marvel Films have a definite fan following in India, which was evident by the advance booking for Deadpool And Wolverine. As per box office tracker Sacnilk Entertainment, the response to the R-rated superhero comedy is quite good. The bookings have gone up by 10 per cent. Deadpool And Wolverine has made Rs 23.5 crores at the box office.
After the release of Deadpool3, the MCU has now the first film franchise that has crossed USD 30 billion at the global box office. The stunning action scenes and comedy of Deadpool And Wolverine is a major draw for the audience. It is doing better than the Hindi releases like Bad Newz. The flying start for Deadpool 3 is one of the best in the post-pandemic era. In the past, Avengers: Endgame, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Avatar: The Way Of Water were films that got good openings. The promotion of Deadpool And Wolverine was also done quite well. The two actors Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are good friends in real life. It seems shooting for the movie was an absolute joy for them. In the movie, Deadpool wants to save his world and finds an ally in out of luck Wolverine. They worked together in X-Men: Origins in the past.
Hugh Jackman said that the shoot was a blast. He was quoted as saying to Marvel’s official portal, “We hang out a lot. So, being on set every day with one of my best buddies and [director Shawn Levy], we’re like the three amigos. That is not lost on any of us.”
Jackman was also full of praise for Ryan Reynolds, “There’s so many times he would do things that I didn’t expect. What burns with me in Ryan’s performance is the humanity. Obviously, he’s funny. He’s subversive. The character deflects all the time. But when he opens up, when you see what’s happening in those eyes or in his voice, it’s everything. He’s a brilliant, brilliant actor, and he cares so much about the character that he wants to show all sides perfectly.”
