Shawn Levy's latest Marvel blockbuster, "Deadpool & Wolverine," starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, has been making waves at the box office. The film, which brings together the beloved characters of Deadpool and Wolverine, opened to an impressive start in India, and its momentum carried through the weekend. However, the trend shifted slightly on Monday, as reported by Sacnilk, with the movie's earnings dipping to Rs 7 crore, a significant drop from the Rs 22.30 crore it garnered on Sunday.

Despite this decline, "Deadpool & Wolverine" had a solid start with Rs 21 crore on its opening day and saw a slight increase to Rs 22.65 crore on its second day. The total Indian box office collection now stands at Rs 73.65 crore, highlighting the film's strong performance. Internationally, the movie achieved a staggering $211.4 million in ticket sales over its opening weekend in the US and Canada, marking the largest domestic debut of the year. It also set a new record for the best-ever opening for an R-rated film, surpassing the previous record held by "Joker."

The success of "Deadpool & Wolverine" is notable not only for its box office achievements but also for its role in reinvigorating the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The MCU, comprising 34 interconnected films, is the most successful movie franchise in Hollywood history, collectively grossing over $30 billion. The film's strong performance contrasts with the recent underperformance of superhero movies, such as "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania," "The Marvels," and DC's "The Flash" and "Shazam! Fury of the Gods," which struggled to recover their production costs.

The film, which is the third installment in the "Deadpool" series, benefits from Disney's acquisition of 21st Century Fox, bringing these iconic characters under the same roof as other Marvel properties. Globally, "Deadpool & Wolverine" has grossed $444.1 million, demonstrating its wide-reaching appeal and solidifying its place as a major hit in Disney's lineup.

As the film continues its run, "Deadpool & Wolverine" stands as a testament to the enduring popularity of these characters and the ongoing allure of the superhero genre.
