'D-Day' gets thumbs up from Bollywood (Snippets)

Mumbai, July 15 (IANS) Director Nikhil Advani's forthcoming film "D-Day", set to hit the screens July 19, has already won the hearts of people from the film fraternity including filmmakers Karan Johar and Abhishek Kapoor.

"D-Day, taut, gripping and incredibly made... a strong emotional layer that gives it gravitas... performances are top notch," Johar posted on microblogging site Twitter.

"Well-done Madhu Bhojwani and Monisha (Advani) for your debut production and Nikhil Advani for all the work and passion you guys have put in," added the filmmaker who had produced Advani's directorial venture "Kal Ho Naa Ho".

Kapoor also posted on his Twitter page: "Saw 'D-Day' last night. It is one of the best thrillers ever. Nikhil Advani is in absolute control of this fabulous movie-going experience."

"Arjun Rampal, can't get over it brother. What a magnificent job you have done," added Kapoor.

The film also features Huma Qureshi, Irrfan and Rishi Kapoor in lead roles.

End of favourite TV show makes Big B sad

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, ready to star in director Anurag Kashyap's untitled TV show, is sad that the third season of his favourite fantasy drama "The Games of Thrones" has ended.

"'The Game of Thrones' occupies most of my day and there is remorse because the Season 3 is over and one wants it never to end," Bachchan posted on his blog.

"The production value, the cast of such immense talent, the story line, symbolic of times that could have emerged in the past, the detailing to locations, surroundings, dress, properties... immaculate," he wrote

"Such an attraction to watch a TV series, which has the value of a film... perhaps even better and greater."

Family support is essential: Kristina Akheeva

Australian model-actress Kristina Akheeva, who shot to fame in Bollywood with director Sangeeth Sivan's "Yamla Pagla Deewana 2", says her family has supported her throughout.

"Support from the family is so essential and I'm glad that my family has always been there for me," said Kristina.

"My family was extremely proud and excited to see the film. They even photographed themselves with the standees of the film and cheered loudly when I came on screen," she added.

"Yamla Pagla Deewana 2" featured veteran actor Dharmendra and his sons Sunny and Bobby Deol.
