CINTAA is a very important body of our industry but is not taken seriously: Himani

CINTAA is Cine and TV Artist Association which is made for the welfare of the artist of entertainment industry. Every year 13 members are been elected out of the participated members and on May 1, 13 new members are been elected and has become the new government body of CINTAA who will be looking after the association till next election. One member who has been elected is popular actress of Television and Bollywood, Himani Shivpuri.

We got in touch with Himani who says," I am really happy to have been elected as the new member of CINTAA. From many years, my friends from the industry were pushing me to stand for the election, but due to work, I never thought of participating. This year I made up my mind and I luckily got selected."

What are your takes about CINTAA and what things you feel where wrong and you want to change in the system? She said,"Actually I feel that CINTAA is a very important body of our industry but is not taken seriously, it is being neglected. Take the example of the buzz which is floating around that there will be a strike soon and everyone is involved in this matter except CINTAA. So I feel that there should be like minded people with a positive approach in CINTAA so that it is taken seriously. There are rules made by CINTAA but people don't bother to follow them. For example, there is a rule that the actor shouldn't work more than 12 hours but the shooting schedules are mostly extended. The actors are kept in horrendous conditions like there are no ACs on sets, their makeup rooms are in terrible condition and so. Thus I want people to understand that an actor is not a machine and they need at least 12 hours for themselves."

She continued "So as now I am part of CINTAA, I want to bring changes such as making security for women a priority. These days so many shoots happen in inaccessible areas like Naigoan.  Its so difficult to get transportation from there and it could be easy for actors who have cars but what about those who don't such as our hair dressers, make up women and so on.  Usually pack up happens late in the evening or night; it becomes really risky for these women to travel. Thus I want to implement the rule of provide travel and security to the female actors and other female members on the sets.  Other than that the shooting schedule should not exceed more than 12 hours. CINTAA should be taken seriously and it should be so accessible that actors can easily come to us with their problems for help."

"Lastly I would like to say that, I hope that, we the new members, try to fulfill the goals which we have set for the betterment of the actors and for our industry", she concludes.
