While Tinsel Town is full of shining stars that
bring fame to the industry, there does exist a few younger stars who add
their shine with their talent to the cinema. With this, BollyCurry
introduces to you, a new column "Child Star in the Spotlight"; and the
first one we have is a Taara in himself, one in need of no introduction, Darsheel Safary.Darsheel was born on March 9, 1996 in Mumbai, India. His unforgettable acting debut was as Ishaan Nandkishore Awasthi, a dyslexic child, in the 2007 film Taare Zameen Par. His performance as a struggling student and son, with dyslexia, has bagged him numerous awards and much critical and public accolades. After Taare Zameen Par, Safary starred in Priyadarshan's Bumm Bumm Bole (2010), Satyajit Bhatkal's action superhero movie, Zokkomon (2011), and Deepa Mehta's Midnight's Children (2012).
As of now, Safary is the winner of Filmfare Critics Best Actor Award (2008), Star Screen Best Child Artist and Special Jury Awards (2008), and Zee Cine Critics' Choice Best Actor and Most Promising Child Artist Debut Awards (2008).
