Bollywood celebrities fondly remembered superstar Rajesh Khanna on his first death anniversary Thursday and said we should celebrate the legacy that he has left behind.
Fondly known as 'Kaka' among his colleagues in the industry, Rajesh Khanna rose on the film firmament as a superstar after a string of hits starting with "Aradhana" and followed by "Kati Patang", "Haathi Mere Saathi", "Anand", "Aan Milo Sajna" and "Aapki Kasam".
The actor passed away July 18 last year after a prolonged illness. He was 69. Wife Dimple Kapadia and two daughters - Twinkle and Rinkie - survive him.
Here is what the film fraternity has to say:
Farhan Akhtar: His (Rajesh Khanna) loss was a major loss to the industry. He has left such beautiful memories and legacies and we should celebrate that. His films, songs and his performances will always live with us. The legacy that he has left behind in terms of his work and memories is something we should all celebrate.
Kiran Rao: We'll always cherish the work he has done for us and the foundation stones he has laid for all of us to keep making films.
Divya Dutta: I've met him (Rajesh Khanna) personally. I've had the honour of sitting with him, chatting with him, working with him. I just remember him as somebody who is been just a star with loads of style.
Ranveer Singh: He had one of the most distinct styles and he is one of the most stylish actors and of course, he used to work from his heart. That's the biggest thing.
