The lifeless body of the female PGT doctor, a second-year student in the chest medicine department, was discovered partially unclothed inside the hospital's seminar hall on Friday. Having been on duty the previous night, her body exhibited numerous signs of injury. The initial autopsy findings suggested sexual assault prior to her demise, prompting her father to assert that she was raped and murdered within the hospital premises.
On Tuesday, the Calcutta High Court directed the transfer of the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Junior doctors, trainees, and medical students across the nation staged strikes and protests on the same day, impacting healthcare services.
Many Bollywood celebrities have joined the call for justice. Kangana advocated for the CBI to lead the investigation, and Alia Bhatt voiced her demand for justice for the victim through a social media post.
