Ayushmann Khurrana is marking the first anniversary of his hit film Dream Girl 2 with a fun-filled video. Released on August 25, the film is a significant part of Khurrana’s career, and he took to social media to celebrate this milestone.
The comedy film Dream Girl 2 was a big hit in 2023, boasting Khurrana's best opening ever. Directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa and produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor, the movie was a sequel to the 2019 hit Dream Girl. To commemorate the occasion, Ayushmann shared a humorous video that showcases his iconic character, Pooja. In the clip, Khurrana receives a surprise box filled with Pooja’s items. The twist comes when he gets a call from another Pooja, who’s trying to sell a credit card. Laughing, Khurrana quips, “Naam chahe kitne bhi ho, asli Pooja to sirf yahi hai” (There might be several Poojas but I remain the real one).
Fans quickly flooded the comment section with their reactions. Many speculated if this video hinted at a third installment of the series. One user wrote, “Ah I thought we’re getting Dream Girl 3 soon.” Another added, “Daddy se effortlessly Mommy banne ka tareeqa thoda kezual hai AK.” A third comment read, “Is this the sign daddy for dream girl 3 ???” and a fourth commented, “Woh ek wink se phirse dil ka telephone baj gaya uffff.”
Khurrana expressed his gratitude in an official statement, saying, “The film will always hold a special place in my heart, not only because of the success it got but for the joy it spread amongst people. As an actor, if you can evoke a sense of happiness in your audience and bring a smile to their faces, I feel it’s half the job done, and that’s what Dream Girl 2 did.”
Ananya Panday, who starred alongside Khurrana, also shared her excitement on Instagram. She posted, “1 year of Dream Girl 2 and the love still pours in” and thanked everyone involved for the ‘most fun journey and film.’
Dream Girl 2 continues to be remembered fondly for its comedy and the chaotic yet entertaining story of a man navigating life disguised as a woman.
