Actor Ashutosh Rana, who is rarely seen on screen these days, says his only criterion for choosing a film is to see how different it is from his previous roles.
"Whenever I find variety and where I do not have to repeat anything... if I find such a character, then I don't ask 'Who are you and how big are you'. If you have a challenging character (to offer), then I am yours and you are mine," the 48 year old said here Wednesday at the mahurat shot of his new film "Soda".
Ashutosh recalled the varied characters he has essayed in his entire career.
"Like there was this film 'Kismet Love Paisa Dilli', my character was very different. 'Ata, Pata, Lapata' is different, the character in Ram Gopal Varma's 'Ab Tak Chappan 2' is very different, in this film ('Soda'), it is also different," Ashutosh said.
"So if you look at my entire career, if there is Gokul Pandit from 'Dushman', then there is also a Lajja Shankar of 'Sangharsh' and Yogen Singh of 'LOC: Kargil' and also a Kishen Yadav of 'Chot' and there is also 'Shabnam Mausi'," he added.
Directed by Vinod Kumar Singh, "Soda" also stars Om Puri.
