The news of music legend AR Rahman's separation from his wife Saira Banu after three decades of marriage has quickly spread, leaving fans disheartened. Various individuals, including fans and industry insiders, are expressing their thoughts on the matter. Filmmaker and actor Parthiban also shared a post addressing his friend AR Rahman's divorce. Although not explicitly naming anyone in the Tamil post, fans were able to interpret the context.

He wrote, “Separation is often viewed with sorrow, but it can also give birth to new forms of peace. Music, sung by Karthik Raja, with the verses of ‘Kudainkein Ramsi,’ highlights that separation does not always result in loss. Sometimes, it opens up space for growth and change. Rather than clinging to the suffocating bonds of intimacy, those involved in a relationship can explore if there is a way to live freely, according to their desires. Like a community coming together to celebrate a relationship before parting ways, the decision to leave a place or a bond—such as ‘Secession’—should be respected and in doing so, contribute to peace."

On Tuesday night, the Oscar-winning music composer and his wife confirmed their split through a joint statement issued by their lawyer Vandana Shah.

The statement read, “After many years of marriage, Mrs. Saira has made the difficult decision to separate from her husband Mr. AR Rahman. This decision comes after significant emotional strain in their relationship. Despite their deep love for each other, the couple has found that the tensions and difficulties have created an insurmountable gap between them, one that neither party feels able to bridge at this time. Mrs. Saira requests privacy and understanding from the public during this challenging time."

The couple married in 1995 and are parents to daughters Khatija, Raheema, and son Ameen. The news of their separation has left fans surprised, given the couple’s long-standing bond.

Meanwhile, on the professional front, Rahman continues to focus on his upcoming projects, including Chhaava, Thug Life, Lahore 1947, and Genie, which promise to showcase his musical brilliance once again.
