'Animal' Box Office Day 1: Flies off to an unprecedented start raking in huge numbers; enters Top 3
If you told anyone a while ago that an adult-rated film with extreme violence, clocking over 3 hours and 20-minute runtime, clashing with another big film and having a non-holiday release will have a thunderous opening, you would be considered cuckoo.

Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga strikes again. If you told anyone a while ago that an adult-rated film with extreme violence, clocking over 3 hours and 20-minute runtime, clashing with another big film and having a non-holiday release will have a thunderous opening, you would be considered cuckoo.
But that is what Animal has done as the film has wrong every possible assumption and prediction to bring in huge numbers at the box office. So much so that it was only a few lakhs away from Pathaan to be the second-highest grosser of not just 2023 but all-time.
As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Animal garnered Rs 54.74 crores on Day 1, which puts the film at the 3rd spot in the highest-grossing films of all time behind Jawan and Pathaan, respectively. At the same time, according to a report per industry tracker Sacnik, the film’s global gross collection on the opening day stands at Rs 116 crore. In India, the film has earned a gross figure of Rs 76.1 crore and overseas, the film made Rs 39.9 crore.
Nevertheless, Animal has managed to achieve a feat no one thought would be possible, considering the many limitations it had. On the other hand, the film that it clashed with was Sam Bahadur, who managed to rake in Rs 6.25 crores on Day 1.
With such a thunderous start, Animal is on course to garner earth-shattering numbers over the weekend and will stand the test of time when it comes to its lifetime total as we have another mega clash coming in the form of Salaar vs Dunki in the next three weeks.
