Ameesha Patel opens up about creative changes in Gadar 2, says "Let bygones be bygones"

Ameesha Patel recently opened up about an unexpected change in the climax of Gadar 2. The actress revealed that she was initially set to kill the villain in the movie. However, this significant twist was altered without her knowledge. She also mentioned that director Anil Sharma regrets the decision now.

On X (formerly Twitter), a fan asked Ameesha if Sakina was originally meant to kill the villain. Responding, Ameesha confirmed the fan’s query. She shared, “YES SAKINA was told that she would be killing the VILLIAN by the director, but the climax shoot happened minus my knowledge. Let bygones be bygones. ANIL JI is family, and he's aware of this and I’m sure he too feels bad now. Gadar 2 already created history. Time to move ahead.”

In an earlier interview with Hindustan Times, Ameesha revealed that both she and Sunny Deol made several creative changes to Gadar 2. While not claiming full control, she admitted that they 'ghost-directed' some portions of the film. Their aim was to retain the emotional depth and ensure it appealed to the audience.

Although there were creative differences between Ameesha and director Anil Sharma, she holds him in high regard. Reflecting on their working relationship, she said that during the original Gadar, ideas were often shared through assistant directors. Despite disagreements, she mentioned that they always reconciled.

The sequel to the 2001 blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha released on August 11, 2023. Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel reprised their roles as Tara Singh and Sakina, reuniting after more than two decades. Their chemistry once again captivated fans.

The overwhelming success of Gadar 2 not only revived the duo's on-screen magic but also reaffirmed their status as Bollywood icons. The film’s box-office performance shattered records, bringing joy to audiences and the industry alike.
