Alone is a story about conjoined twins, who swear to be together all their life. But due to certain circumstances, they are separated from each other, and in the due process one of them dies. What happens when she returns from the dead, forms the rest of the story.
Bipasha Basu plays the role of the conjoined twins, Anjana and Sanjana in the film. Even though she has a double role in the film, there are hardly any scenes of two Bipashas in a single shot. As far as acting is concerned, Bipasha does the same acting that she did in Aatma or Creature 3D, though this is the first time that she is playing the ghost and not just the victim. One must accolade Bipasha's makeup artist who has managed pretty well, to make Bipasha Basu look scary. All throughout the movie she has been dressed skimpily, which doesn't make any sense to the story line. You can understand her wearing skimpy clothes to woo her husband, but why she would want to wear skimpy clothes when guests come home, is out of human understanding.
Alone marks the debut of Karan Singh Grover in Bollywood. Well known for his romantic roles in the numerous television soaps he has done, somehow falls short in this film. May be it is the script or the chemistry with Bipasha that doesn't work in Karan's favour. He plays Bipasha's husband, Kabir, in the film. Even though he has amazing screen presence, Alone wasn't the best bet. Great talent but a poor script can be quite damage.
The music is average, though the video is been made sensuous. Kudos to the cinematography and crisp editing. The locales of Kerala have been picturized very well. The film is full of loop holes, like a body buried under ground doesn't decay in seven years, how? The movie can be a one-time watch for die-hard Karan Singh Grover fans, but other than that Alone has nothing much in the offering. So this weekend go enjoy some 'Alone' time.
