Akshay Kumar, known for his prolific output with no less than four releases a year, has faced a challenging period at the box office. In a recent interview with Forbes India, the actor opened up about how the pandemic has influenced his approach to selecting scripts, especially in light of his recent string of flops.

Discussing the changing dynamics of the film industry, Akshay emphasized the need for mindful content selection. "The pandemic has undoubtedly changed the dynamics of the film industry. With audiences being more selective about their cinema outings, it has become crucial to choose projects that offer something completely entertaining and unique," he said. Akshay noted that today's audiences have evolved, and it’s essential to find stories that resonate deeply and justify a trip to the theatre. “It’s about finding stories that not only entertain but also connect deeply with the audience,” he added.

Despite the recent setbacks, Akshay Kumar remains motivated and driven by a genuine love for his craft. He attributes his longevity in the industry to his unwavering discipline and work ethic. "My biggest strength has been my discipline and work ethic. I literally work on a time-table… I sleep, eat, and work at a particular time, and shoot for a specific number of hours."

"I have followed this for years," he shared. Staying mentally and physically fit has also been crucial for him. He added, "The motivation comes from a genuine love for what I do and to continue making films on which so many livelihoods depend. Also, the support and love from my fans fuel my passion and commitment in this journey.”

Akshay Kumar was last seen in "Sarfira," the Hindi remake of "Soorarai Pottru," which is inspired by the life of Air Deccan Founder Captain GR Gopinath. He also starred in "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan" alongside Tiger Shroff, which released in April.

Looking ahead, Akshay is set to entertain audiences with his upcoming comedy film "Khel Khel Mein," co-starring Taapsee Pannu, Fardeen Khan, Vaani Kapoor, Ammy Virk, Aditya Seal, and Pragya Jaiswal. The film is slated for release on August 15. Additionally, he is gearing up for "Housefull 5," promising another dose of laughter and entertainment.
