5 reasons why we feel that the Case against Kiku Sharda is Pointless!

Actor Kiku Sharda, who is most known for his hilarious roles in the show 'Comedy Nights With Kapil' was arrested last night. The followers of Dera Sacha Sauda have filed a case against him for hurting their religious sentiments as Kiku had staged the role of Sant Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insaan, who is their religious leader.

Here are 5 reasons why we think, this case is pointless!

The show comes with a disclaimer that it doesn't intend to hurt religious sentiments of any individual/religious group! All the jokes made on this show are to be taken in good humour! Why do people feel offended, even when the show says- no offence intended!

2. Technically, it's the writers/makers of the show, who should be sued and        not Kiku!

Kiku Sharda is just an actor, who enacts what he is told to. He can adapt to any role given. It's the writers of this show, that put him in the character of the Saint! Actors have contracts saying that they will have to act as per the script. How is this Kiku's Fault?

3.       Whats wrong in imitating him?

Sant Gurmeet Rahim Singh is a public figure. He has produced, written, directed, sung songs for and even ACTED in two movies himself! He does concerts, in which he sings songs like love charger! If comedians can mimic superstars like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan! What's wrong in imitating Sant gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insaan?

4.       Kiku had even apologised publically!

After receiving a lot of rants and hate tweets, Kiku even apologised to the Dera Sacha Sauda. What is the point of magnifying the whole thing and creating such a big issue after all this?

5.       A thing called freedom of expression exists!

I go to a religious leaders gathering. I don't like what he taught. I come and tell my friends I didn't like it. I mimic his dialogues and actions. I am just expressing myself! It is my point of view, that I am sharing with my friends and I have the right to do so. The writer of the show just expressed his thoughts and there is nothing wrong with it! There is something called freedom of expression, and you can't take it away from any artist.

What if The Indian Army had sued Sant Gurmeet Rahim Singh for hurting their sentiments, when he made fun of their rigorous training and determination by beating them up in his self-appraising movie!
