Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai seeks to build the concept of love within the traditional setting of an arranged marriage. It creates a quintessential contrast to the world around us where marriages, once considered sacrosanct in our society, are losing their sanctity and turning into relationships of convenience.
The story initially revolved around Akshara (Hina Khan) a shy, demure, obedient daughter who had been brought up like a princess in a traditional Marwari family in Udaipur. Akshara, who enters the Singhania family post her marriage with Naitik Singhania ( Karan Mehra) had a very protective upbringing and she transforms herself into the character of a perfect bahu. she discovers a unique relationship called LOVE, which eventually helps her stride through all trials and tribulations.
Years later, the show is carried forward by Akshara and Naitik's daughter, Naira Singhania (Shivangi Joshi) who marries Kartik Goenka (Mohsin Khan). Naira, just like her mother tries to adjust in this new phase of life and manages her role both as a Wife and a daughter-in law with utmost dedication.
The serial that airs on Star Plus and streams on Hotstar with it's on-going twists in the life of Naira Singhania keeps the viewers engaged. A spin-off was recently launched starring Rhea Sharma and Shaheer Sheikh in the show Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke.
